The New Faculty Handbook serves as an introduction to our university and new faculty community.  Here you will find valuable resources such as campus parking, technology, key contacts, and critical information about teaching.

 

Take Your Time To Read

This site is not meant for you to read all in one sitting.  Doing so might create a negative experience of information overload, and we certainly don't want that.  Take your time to go through the content in the modules and become familiar with CSUN resources and the information we curated about teaching and scholarship.  Think about this site as your guide on the side during your first year at CSUN.  We hope that you will keep coming back here to revisit some information when you need it and also to keep connected to your peers and the Faculty Development team.

 

Site Organization 

The content of this site is organized in a linear fashion using Canvas Modules.  Module 1 is the introductory module that describes what this site is all about and introduces you to the Faculty Development team and the goals of the New Faculty Foundations program.  This is the only module that we recommend to be read in a page-by-page sequence.

Once you complete Module 1, feel free to peruse this site in whatever order you wish.  This is a public Canvas site, which means that anyone with a direct link can access it with or without a CSUN Canvas log-in. 

 

🔖 Tip! Add the handbook to your Canvas courses (or bookmark it) to find it again easily:

If you are a CSUN faculty or staff member, you can self-enroll in this site with your CSUN email and password so that you'll always have it in your Canvas account with your other courses.  Once enrolled, add the handbook to your Canvas Dashboard. 

If you are not a CSUN Canvas user, you'll still have access to all the content, since it is a public course site.  Bookmark the course home page in your browser and come back anytime!

 

One more thing...

We encourage faculty to continue to use the handbook as a resource even after they have been at CSUN for a while. So please feel free to use to continue using this site throughout your time here at CSUN.
