Handbook Peer Faculty Facilitators

1.3 HANDBOOK PEER FACULTY FACILITATORS

We hope that you are able to cultivate relationships at CSUN right from the start.  This year, we aim to work creatively in the online environment.  We have invited three faculty members to join us in being your virtual peer facilitator in this Canvas site.  This is our attempt to demonstrate our human presence and provide a space for you to connect with some experienced faculty.  These are faculty members who look forward to sharing their stories and offer you some professional advice all while keeping a warm and fun tone in their notes.

Meet Star Glover

Hi, new faculty! I'm Star Glover, and I've been teaching as a lecturer in the English department at CSUN ever since I earned my MA here in 2015. You may also find me in the Academic First Year Experiences, Linguistics, and Queer Studies departments or in the Learning Resource Center (send us your students for tutoring!). In my role as a peer faculty facilitator, I've done my best to help make the content in this online handbook both relevant and easily accessible to newcomers. You'll see my Bitmoji throughout the site, accompanied by additional tips or background information. I hope that you'll find this resource helpful. Welcome to CSUN!

Meet Amber Norwood

Greetings, new faculty! I’m Amber Norwood, lecturer in the English Department, and Steering Committee member for University 100: The Freshman Seminar. I’m also an eLearning Ambassador for FacDev, and I also hold a Master’s in Instructional Design and Technology. I’ve been a member of the CSUN community since I was 9, coming here for music exams and summer camps. This was where I began my own undergraduate journey as a first-time freshman, and I’ve been teaching here since 2005. I’m deeply committed to this campus and our community here. ! I’m excited to help you navigate this resource, and to welcome you.
