The Los Angeles metropolitan area is home to 13.1 million people, making Los Angeles the second most populous city and metropolitan area in the United States.  LA is a place of extraordinary ethnic and racial diversity, owing largely to immigration.  Los Angeles residents (called Angelenos) rely on cars for transportation and enjoy a year-round mild-to-hot and mostly dry climate in the metropolitan area.

Besides the world-renowned movie industry, LA county features a wide range of other industries, from high-technology manufacturing to craft and fashion.  Tourism is also big in Los Angeles. Some of the most famous attractions include the Getty Center, LACMA and Walt Disney Concert Hall, as well as theme parks offering fun for the entire family. San Fernando Valley and the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians

CSUN is located in the heart of Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, known by Los Angeles locals as "The Valley."  Currently this Valley is the home to some of the world’s major movie studios and exciting attractions, dining, and entertainment. 

The portion of the San Fernando Valley which CSUN occupies is known as the Sesevenga.  It is the historic and unceded territory of the Sesevitam.  The descendants of the first inhabitants of this land continue to live in the area as citizens of the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians

The area around CSUN is full of restaurants and fun places to hang out for the entire family.  The beautiful suburbs of San Fernando Valley are located near three major freeways, making travel around the city neighborhoods accessible.  The Northridge Fashion Center and mini-malls with movie theaters, karaoke, and bowling bring a fun and lively vibe to the area near CSUN.
