Parking
Message from your peer facilitator:
If you live close to campus, consider walking or biking. CSUN has designated bike lanes and secure bicycle parking in the compounds is available for you across campus.
3.4 PARKING
Parking Permit
Faculty can purchase a semester- or year-long parking permit by logging into the CSUN portal (The link is on the right side of the home screen.) or by visiting the CSUN Parking & Transportation Services office, located in the Police Services Building at the corner of Darby Avenue and Prairie Street (bring faculty ID with you). Full-time permanent faculty can pay through monthly payroll deduction; part-time employees must pay in full at the time of purchase. Faculty must visit the parking office to enroll in payroll deduction, rather than enrolling online. The cost of passes are posted on their Faculty and Staff Parking webpage which links to the corresponding semester pricing list. Note that faculty are under Unit 3.
CSUN started using virtual parking permits using the license plate number of the vehicle instead of a physical parking decal that used to be displayed on the windshield of a car. You can learn more about the details of the virtual permits on the Parking & Transportation Services website.
Where to Park
Guest Parking
Hosting a guest on campus? Guests can purchase a day pass using the machines located near the elevators on each floor of the parking structures. A mobile app to purchase day passes will also be available later this academic year. Your department can also arrange and pay for their parking ahead of time.
Parking Citations
Because the Department of Police Services is an accredited law enforcement agency, parking citations you receive at CSUN are "real" citations and are reported to the DMV. If you want to appeal a citation, you can find more information here.
Other Transportation
You can find more information on the Transportation Services website, including information on Rideshare, Electric Vehicle charging stations, Metrolink train service, and other bus and transit options. CSUN Employees can take advantage of the Transportation Programs offered by the Police Services.
Start of Semester
Plan to arrive very early to campus for the first two weeks of the semester. Many people are driving to campus and parking who will later take public transit, many new students and staff are driving slowly looking for where to go, and campus traffic and parking is generally a headache, to be quite honest! After the first couple of weeks, things will lighten up and be much more efficient.
