3.8 FACULTY AFFAIRS OFFICE

University Hall, where Faculty Affairs is locatedThe Office of Faculty Affairs is the place where all faculty personnel matters are managed.

Example topics include:

  • Faculty retention, tenure, promotion (RTP) ...sorry another acronym
  • Informal complaint resolution
  • Faculty grievances & liaison with California Faculty Association
  • Sabbatical/difference-in-pay leaves
  • Personal and professional leaves without pay
  • Faculty recruitment & hiring 

When it comes time to start asking, "How do I secure my job at CSUN," this is the office that provides support interpreting all the different policies and procedures of your job expectations.  They also enjoy providing support to faculty as they navigate the process of meeting the department and college expectations.  Obviously you will have many more questions after you settle in, but please know there will be carved out sessions where we will co-host or direct you to Faculty Affairs events where all your personnel-related questions will be addressed. Dear New Faculty,

I am very pleased that you are joining our wonderful Matador family.

As you settle into your routine this Fall semester, do make time to explore the campus, get to know your colleagues, and connect with your department chair and college dean.

There is so much to learn to get started in your first semester at CSUN!  Once you get started with teaching and the other matters covered in this Canvas course, we'll be opening another module on your career path here at CSUN and will offer programming on that topic.
