Subject Specialists Librarians 

Get help from your librarian subject specialist for challenges like tracking down incomplete or inaccurate citations, finding a dataset with the series you need, or determining which archive holds the primary sources you want.

Online resources

As a faculty member, you have access to over 60,000 electronic journals and 600,000 e-books. You can embed library resources into your Canvas site, such as stable links to databases and journal articles and video tutorials Links to an external site. through the library’s YouTube channel.

Scholarly Publishing 

As you move through the RTP process, you may have questions about credible academic journals. View the Professional Publishing guide designed to help CSUN faculty navigate scholarly publishing, such as to determine which journals to publish in and/or serve on editorial boards. The guide also reviews red flags and signs of illegitimate publishers, referred to often as 'predatory publishing' and resources to help verify credible journals. 

ScholarWorks

ScholarWorks Links to an external site. is CSUN’s institutional repository.  It is an open access archive for CSUN faculty publications (which you can add yourself to or ask librarians to do it for you); CSUN-based journals and conference proceedings; and the electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) from CSUN's masters and Ed.D. programs. 

Interlibrary Loan  

When the library doesn’t own material, you can request it physically or electronically through the Interlibrary Loan service. You can request electronic copies of journal articles and book chapters and borrow physical books and media from other libraries via Interlibrary Loan or CSU+ Resource Sharing (see Frequently Asked Questions about CSU+).  Access your account by using your Portal ID and password at this website

Borrowing Privileges

CSUN faculty may borrow an unlimited number of circulating books from the main collection for 365 days from the date of checkout. Faculty may renew items once, for an additional 365-day loan. Exceptions: Loan periods for materials borrowed via CSU+ are for 16 weeks. Circulating media collection loan period is 60 days.
