Frequently Asked Questions

I'm thinking about submitting a grant proposal.  Where do I start?

Start by contacting your pre-award college liaison in the Research and Sponsored Programs office.  They can provide assistance, or point you in the direction of someone with the expertise to support you in your grant proposal.

My research uses human participants, animals, or potentially hazardous materials.  Where do I find out CSUN's protocol for such research?

The Research and Sponsored Programs office houses the committees that oversee such research, and you can find links to each of these committees in their page in this module.

The library doesn't have something that is really key to my research, and it isn't a one-off item I can obtain through Interlibrary Loan.  What can I do?

You should reach out to your Subject Specialist librarian regarding this.  Whether for a class or for your particular research, your Subject Specialist can explore whether the library can acquire an item or electronic access to a source you need.

I need some structure or support for my writing.  Where can I find that?

Find out more about writing workshops, the Faculty Writers Listserv, and forming writing groups on the Faculty Advice on Scholarship page in this module.

Create an account (using your CSUN credentials) to access countless webinars and tips on how to be productive and strategic in your scholarship while managing other university expectations.

I'd like to get involved in a Center or Institute on campus.  How do I do that?

Reach out to the main contact person listed for that center or institute.  You can find links to all their websites here.
