Students' Mental and Physical Health
It is really helpful to get to know staff members in these different offices—besides referring students to the resources, you can turn to them for advice in handling different situations.

Resources for Mental and Physical Wellness
Mental and physical wellness is key to student success, and CSUN has many great campus resources available to students at no cost.
CSUN Basic Needs Office
CSUN With a Heart is the website for the CSUN Basic Needs Office. The Basic Needs office at CSUN utilizes a holistic, student-centered approach to providing students with basic needs support and eliminating these barriers to their academic success. The Basic Needs team is dedicated to accomplishing this by providing advocacy, guidance, and connection to resources that facilitate food and housing stability.
University Counseling Services
University Counseling Services provides a variety of mental health services to students, including individual counseling, psychiatric consultation, outreach presentations, groups and workshops, and a 24/7 urgent care line that they can give students urgent care assistance. Another resource is the Mobile Campus Response team, a partnership between UCS and Department of Police Services to support students in mental health emergencies.
In addition to suggesting UCS to a student, faculty can utilize the Red Folder Links to an external site. on their campus computer if they encounter a student in distress or crisis. Faculty can also call UCS and consult with a counselor about any concerns they have about a student. Also, if you are interested in having one of our UCS representatives share about our services within your program, please complete our Presentation Request Form Links to an external site..
