JOUR 498 SENIOR PROJECT - (10064-SP2020)
This course involves students in an ongoing participatory photography workshop project with the homeless community, at the Holy Family Service Centerof the St. Charles Borromeo Church in North Hollywood. The project involves pairing up students with individuals from the homeless community who frequent the site for a variety of services, teaching them basic photography skills with an emphasis on street photography theory and practice. The students assist the instructor in supervising, editing and writing about the participants’ work, documenting their lifestyles and environment. This semester, we will also be training our photographers in photo editing and design skills, with the objective of preparing those interested with the vocational skills necessary for employment in photography.
