JOUR 498 SENIOR PROJECT - (10659-FA2019)
This course involves students in a participatory photography workshop project with the homeless community, at the Holy Family Service Center (Links to an external site.)of the St. Charles Borromeo Church in North Hollywood. The project will involve pairing up students with individuals from the homeless community who frequent the site for a variety of services, teaching them basic photography skills with an emphasis on street photography theory and practice. The students will then assist the instructor in supervising the participants’ work documenting their lifestyles and environment. Participants will also be encouraged to write captions or other writings, including their personal stories, to give their images context. Utilizing the grant money available for the project, each participant will receive a stiped (commission) for their creative work at the conclusion of the project.
