Instructions

This assignment is designed to introduce students to two software packages that you'll need to use during the course of the semester.

The first software is the Citrix Receiver. You should already have it installed on your computer or you should be working from a computer that has it installed (on-campus computer lab). The Citrix Client allows you to use CSUN's virtual software library (VSL), also known as "mycsunsoftware", which is necessary for part B of this lab.

After you have installed Citrix successfully, you will use your computer, tablet or phone to log on to YOUR CSUN virtual personal computer that has a full suite of software and plenty of storage space.

You'll use the VSL to access ArcMap, a Geographic Information System (GIS) software and you'll learn to use some of its functions to answer a few simple questions.

This is a low stakes assignment designed to make sure you are ready to complete subsequent labs using Arc Map GIS in the VSL environment.

Part A introduces you to GIS so that you'll have some idea of what the value of the software you'll be using this semester.
